Language Arts- Fishtank

Our students access high quality and relevant literature in the classroom throughout the day. We want students to see themselves and their lived experiences in texts while also learning about and engaging in thoughtful conversations about communities that are different from their own. This will be accessed through shared texts as well as independent reading texts.

Math- Illustrative Math (IM) & ST Math

IM emphasizes student engagement through problem-solving, collaboration, and discussion, fostering both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. ST Math is a visual, game-based math program designed to build a strong conceptual understanding of math through spatial-temporal reasoning. It uses interactive, animated puzzles and manipulatives to engage students and provide immediate feedback on their problem-solving strategies.

Visual Arts

Visual arts are crucial for individual and societal development. They foster creativity, emotional expression, and cultural understanding, while also enhancing cognitive skills and providing therapeutic benefits. Furthermore, they serve as a powerful means of communication, shaping our understanding of the world and preserving cultural heritage.

In our Visual Arts classes, we are stimulating creativity and problem-solving. We introduce them to core concepts that help them tap into their artistic intelligence and grow their confidence, self-esteem and encourage their self-expression.

They work collaboratively with their peers to develop their motor skills, build confidence, improve their strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. Our students have the opportunity to assume leadership, cooperate with others, and improve their physical and mental health as they set and strive for personal goals.
